Privacy

Short version: this website collects almost nothing. There are no accounts, no cookies and no advertising trackers. If you choose to share what you paid, we keep those answers without anything that identifies you.

This website

• One optional form. The "Share what you paid" form is the only thing you can submit on this site. It asks no name, email or phone number. What it keeps.
• Filters run in your browser. The "show only" filters on area pages work on your own device and send nothing.
• Maps load only when you ask. Area pages have a "Show the map" button. Until you press it, nothing is loaded from anyone else. When you press it, your browser downloads the map code from unpkg.com and map images from OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org), which receive your IP address like any website you visit. We send them nothing else.
• Phone and website links go straight from your device to the provider. We don't track which ones you use.
• No cookies, no accounts, no analytics or ad trackers on this site at this time. If that changes, this page changes first.

Price reports ("Share what you paid")

On area pages and on the "Share what you paid" page there is an optional form for families who have already paid for euthanasia, cremation, aquamation, burial or a hospice visit. The site works the same whether or not you use it, and we give nothing in return for a report.

What we ask: the area, what the price was for, your pet (cat, dog size or another pet), the total you paid (an exact amount or a range), the month and year, and, if you want, whether it was booked ahead or same day, and which provider. Every answer is picked from a list or is a number. There are no comment boxes. We never ask for your name, email, phone number or address.

What we keep with each report: those answers, the day we received it, which version of the form was used, and a scrambled fingerprint of the answers (used only to spot the same report sent twice). We do not keep your IP address, browser details or the time of day with a report, so a report cannot be traced back to you.

Spam protection: to limit each connection to a few reports a day and to skip a report sent twice, we keep a one-way scrambled code made from your IP address that changes every day, together with a second scrambled code made from that and your answers. Without our private key, which is kept only in our hosting settings, neither can be matched to a stored report. They are kept in a separate table and deleted after 24 hours. Cloudflare's rate limiter also counts requests per IP address for about a minute; we don't store that count. Reports far outside the prices providers post, repeated amounts and sudden floods are held for review and are not counted unless accepted. We keep a log of those review decisions.

What we publish: only summary figures for an area: the number of reports, the middle (median) price and the middle half of prices for each service, and the range of months. An area is shown only after at least 5 reports sent on at least 3 different days. We never publish a single report, and we never show prices next to a provider's name.

How long we keep it: reports are dated records that we add to and never edit, kept for as long as the site runs. If the site is ever sold, they pass to the new owner. We may share or license the summary figures and the report records themselves, which contain nothing that identifies you. We will not try to re-identify anyone who sends a report, and anyone we share the records with must agree not to try either.

Your choices: sharing is optional. Because nothing in a report identifies you, we can't find or delete one specific report on request. If you think you sent a wrong one, email support@lastwalkfinder.com with the area, service, month and amount, and we will mark matching reports as not counted.

Hosting (Cloudflare)

• The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes standard technical information for every request (the connecting IP address, the time, the page requested, request headers) to deliver and protect the site.
• Cloudflare's Workers Logs feature is turned off for this site, so no per-request log of visits is kept through it.
• Recipients: Cloudflare, as our hosting provider. No one else.
